At her request, there will be no viewing or services, but rather a celebration of life gathering for close family and friends at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a local animal shelter of your desire in her memory.
Lela Beth Male, formerly of Leominster and most recently at Leominster Rehabilitation and Nursing Center passed away peacefully early morning October 7, 2022 following a courageous bout with cancer.
Lela took up residence on Planet Earth on March 26, 1953 in Fitchburg, MA, with her parents Robert A. (Bob) Male and Paraskevy (Nikitas) Male “Perry” to her friends.
She leaves behind her fantastic favorite brother Robert James Male (Rob), who has gone above and beyond to help her through her journey in so many ways, and her deeply beloved terrier mix Gypsy Rose and fluffy tortoise shell cat Sedona. Lela is extremely grateful and at peace knowing both furry kids are in excellent homes with wonderful loving people who have given them exciting new lives.
Lela enjoyed reading, spending time with the fur babies and with friends, playing with food and kitchen gadgets, participating in community theater and volunteering at the library.
Lela was a graduate of and exceptional student of Fitchburg High School class of 1970, and of Smith College, class of 1974. She also held a Masters Degree in Expressive Therapies from Lesley College and a Masters in Information Systems from Northeastern. Lela studied and practiced various energy modalities and was, among other things, a Reiki Master Teacher, hypnotist and animal communicator.
