It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Lawrence E. Fontaine on November 10, 2017. He was surrounded by his loving family and has gone to be with his Mom and Dad, Rene G. and Doris M. (Landry) Fontaine.
Larry was born in Leominster on September 5, 1942. He graduated from Leominster High School in 1961 and joined the Army, where he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He held several jobs after returning home, the last of which was his canteen truck, Al’s Canteen, which he owned and operated with his best friend, Andy.
He leaves behind his sister, Cheryl A. (Fontaine) and her husband Michael E. Dougherty; nieces and nephews, Christina “T” (Landry) Peters, Cindy L. (Dougherty) Driver (Chris), Jeffrey A. Landry (Tracey), Colleen M. (Dougherty) Lucas (Ralph), and Matthew C. Dougherty, along with several great nieces and great nephews.
Aside from his parents, Larry was predeceased by his loving sister, Carol J. (Fontaine) Landry in 2009, and nephew Michael E. Dougherty, Jr. in 1996.
He has spent the last three years at River Terrace Rehab in Lancaster, where he was loved by so many wonderful (friends) staff, and will be missed by all. The family would like to thank all of the staff at River Terrace for the wonderful care and love that Larry received, as well as Leominster Hospital for making his final days so peaceful.
