Calling hours will be held in Brandon Funeral Home, 17 Main St., Ashburnham on Saturday, May 5 from 9-10:30 am. A Mass will be held in St. Denis Church at 11:00am. Burial will follow in Meetinghouse Hill Cemetery in Ashburnham.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations be made to Ashburnham American Legion, Thomas P. Sweeney Post 142 located at 132 Williams Road, Ashburnham, MA 01430, or veteran’s or charitable organization of your choice.
Obituary
Ashburnham – Kenneth P. Harding, 91, lifelong resident of Ashburnham, passed away April 30, in Wachusett Manor Nursing Home.
Mr. Harding was born in Winchendon, MA on August 24, 1926, a son of the late Walter P. and Couranna (Bergevin) Harding. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War until his honorable discharge. For over 36 years Kenneth worked for the Gardner State Hospital in Maintenance. Always a hard worker, he was also a skilled carpenter and painter, who continued to work alongside his son for 17 years during his “retirement”.
Kenneth was a true outdoorsman who loved deer hunting as well as fishing. He was a member of the NRA, Fitchburg Sportsman’s Club, the American Legion Post 142, and was a long time Parishioner of St. Anne’s Mission Parish in South Ashburnham, and then St. Denis Church in Ashburnham.
Kenneth was predeceased by his wife Estelle A. (Moore) Harding in 2005 as well as five older brothers.
He is survived by his two children, James K. “Jim” Harding and his wife Tina of Baldwinville and Linda S. Maxwell and her companion Dominic Baggio of Lunenburg; grandchildren Jonathan and Emily Maxwell and Kelcie and Bailley Harding; two great grandsons, Nakai and Gabriel Miranda; a brother Roy Harding of Ashburnham; in addition to many nieces and nephews. He also leaves his longtime friend and companion, Priscilla Gallon, of Ashburnham.
