The funeral will be held from Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd, Fitchburg on Friday, September 18, with a Mass in Saint Joseph Church at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in Saint Bernard’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, September 17, from 6-8pm in the funeral home.



Fitchburg – Katherine A. (Sowerbutts) Lashua, 80, of Fitchburg, passed away Friday, September 11, in the Highlands. Katherine was born in Fitchburg on August 8, 1935, a daughter of the late William and Mary (Healey) Sowerbutts. She graduated from Saint Bernard’s Catholic High School in 1953. For 12 years, Katherine worked for the Independent Lock Company. She also worked as a Visiting Health Aide for both Burbank and Catholic Charities Hospice in Fitchburg. She loved to do crossword puzzles and word searches. Her family was her greatest joy; Katherine most enjoyed traveling to Germany to visit her son, while he was in the service. Katherine leaves her husband Albert Lashua of Fitchburg; three children, Robert Lashua of TX, Albert “Eddie” Lashua of Fitchburg, and Ann Lashua of Clinton; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her grandson Dustin Lashua; her brother, William Sowerbutts; and her three sisters, Claire Lambert, Helen Flannery, and Ann Sowerbutts. The funeral will be held from Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd, Fitchburg on Friday, September 18, with a Mass in Saint Joseph Church at 10:00 am.
