Memorial visitation will be on Saturday, September 9, 2017, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM, at Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg, MA. Celebration of life services will be held at 3:00 PM at the funeral home. A reception gathering will follow at Slattery’s, 106 Lunenburg St., in Fitchburg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Visiting Nurse Assoc. of Manchester & Southern NH, (Hospice Program) 1070 Holt Ave., Ste. 1400, Manchester, NH 03109.
RAYMOND, NH — Joseph P. Walsh, 68, of Raymond, NH, and formerly of Port St. Lucie, FL and Greenville, SC, passed away at his home after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Fitchburg, MA on August 7, 1949, son of the late John and Dorothy (Progin) Walsh.
Joe grew up in Fitchburg and was a St. Bernard’s High School graduate. He worked for 26 years in the telephone industry and retired from Verizon as a Network Service Manager. Joe served his country in the National Guard for six years. He was an avid golfer and loved the Red Sox and the Patriots and he enjoyed spending time with is large family and many friends.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his sister, Norma Meehan and three brothers, Michael Walsh, Frank Walsh and David Walsh. He is survived by his wife, MaryAnn (DiNinno) Walsh of Raymond; two daughters, Sarah Walsh of Oakland, CA, Rebecca Berkowitz and husband Matt of Greenland, NH; two granddaughters, Camryn and Mila Berkowitz both of Greenland, NH; three brothers, William Walsh of Fitchburg, MA, John Walsh of Winchendon, MA, Thomas (TJ) Walsh of Fitchburg, MA; four sisters, Mary Gaa, of Matamoras, PA, Carol Isbell of Derry, NH, Dorothy McNamara of Fitchburg, MA, Kathy Walsh of Fitchburg, MA and several nieces and nephews.
