OBITUARY
Fitchburg- Joseph J. Marabello, Sr., 81, passed away Friday, May 1, with his family by his side.
A lifelong resident of Fitchburg, Joe was born on April 13, 1934, a son of the late Natale and Concetta (Leonti) Marabello. He was a proud graduate of Fitchburg High School, class of 1952. After graduation Joe worked his way up in the paper industry, beginning at Crocker Burbank, and retiring after 48 years from James River. Joe just truly loved to be busy; after his retirement, he took a job as a maintenance man at the Applewild School, where his meticulous nature came in handy. He also filled his days by becoming a liquor commissioner, a fourth degree knight at the Fitchburg Knights of Columbus, a warden of the voting poles, volunteering at the Beacon of Hope, Saint Anthony School and Church, and the Venerini Sisters.
Joe was a wonderful provider who always put his family first. His nurturing and loving nature was shared with family, friends, and neighbors. He tended an immaculate and bountiful garden, and will always be remembered for his fresh tomatoes and vegetables. Always a social and family oriented man, Joe could often be seen building with his sons, cooking for his beloved wife, traveling daily to Market Basket for fresh bread, and listening to his Italian music, all with that contagious smile on his face.
Joe will be sadly missed by his beautiful wife of 57 years, Rosalie (Badagliacca) Marabello; his loving children, Joseph J. Marabello, Jr. and his wife Joan of Lunenburg, Dominic Marabello and his wife Sue of Lunenburg, Theresa Landry and her fiancé Bob Guilmette of Leominster, Donna Richard and her husband Doug of Leominster. Joe loved being a Nonno to his seven grandchildren, Lynn, Joseph III, Lauren, Dominic, Natalie, Angela, and Anthony. He also leaves behind many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was predeceased by his brother Frank Marabello in 2013; his two sisters Lillian Marabello in 2010 and Antonet “Nenay” Schultz in 2015.
