The funeral will be held Thursday, November 12, 2015 from Brandon Funeral Home with a Mass at 10:00 am in St. Joseph’s Church, 49 Woodland St. Burial will follow at noon in Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen St., Winchendon. FITCHBURG – Joseph J. Arsenault died peacefully at his home on November 7, 2015 surrounded by his family.
He was the son of James and Sophie (Bourque) Arsenault. Joseph was born on June 12, 1927 and lived in Fitchburg all his life. Joe drove trucks and enjoyed his work, calling himself a “truckologist”. He had a good sense of humor. Joe belonged to the Truck Drivers Union, Local 170. He drove for United Transportation for many years and later drove trucks for Star Container Transportation Co. until he retired in October 1989.
Joe was an avid golfer and was a member of Maplewood Golf Course, now known as Settlers Crossing. He has many years playing golf with his friends.
He leaves his wife to whom he was married for 62 years, Lorraine (Dauphinais) Arsenault. They enjoyed many years of camping with their trailer, visiting many states on the East Coast and throughout the country. He also leaves two children, Rebecca (Arsenault) Morin and Kevin Arsenault and his wife, Paula; six grandchildren, Michael Morin and his wife, Holly, Matthew Morin, Andrea (Morin) Bertrand and her husband, Eric, Andrew Morin, Nathan Arsenault and Daniel Arsenault; five great grandchildren, Noah Morin, Vivianne Morin, Benjamin Morin, Evan Bertrand and Julian Bertrand; a son-in-law, Donald Morin and many nieces and nephews. He leaves two cats whom he really enjoyed, Benn and Gerry. Joe was predeceased by two brothers, Emile (Bob) Arsenault and Raymond Arsenault.
