It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John E. Valentino, affectionately known as Val or Johnny, on June 15, 2023. Born on May 31, 1942, in Somerville, MA, John was a loyal, thoughtful, and generous man who touched the lives of many. His quick wit and hilarious sayings such as "Stand up, I have a bet on you", "Hold my feet while I run", and "No thanks it gets in my mouth" will always be remembered. As Maya Angelou once said. “I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” John embodied this quote, always putting a smile on the faces of those around him and making loved ones feel appreciated through his thoughtful actions.
A dedicated family man, a loving father, and an entrepreneur, John was a jack-of-all-trades; working for years as an expeditor for Lincoln Sudbury Highschool while also trying his hand at bar-tending and even jewelry sales. John also worked in facilities maintenance for Buckingham Brown & Nichols and went on to own and operate his own floor-cleaning business ( Val & Son Floorcare). His dedication and passion for his family also extended to his joy of caring for others especially the elderly and his beloved dogs: Jazz and Mia. John's hobbies included "artfully" arguing politics, cooking, creatively baking brownies for his daughter, and taking trips to the North End of Boston with his family. John "relaxed" by waxing his kitchen floors and took great pride in his perpetually shiny, vinyl tile.
Family mattered most to John, and his unwavering loyalty, thoughtful nature, and generous spirit will be deeply missed.
John is survived by his daughter Nicole Lee Valentino, his son Eric John Valentino, his former wife, Maureen Valentino, and siblings, Marie, Peter, and Nancy Valentino. He is preceded in death by his father, Peter Valentino, mother, Nancy Valentino, and sister, Jean Ward.
A visitation for John will be held on Friday, June 23, 2023, from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm EDT at the Brandon Funeral Home, located at 305 Wanoosnoc Road, Fitchburg, Massachusetts, 01420. We encourage friends and loved ones to attend and celebrate the life of this remarkable man.
