Calling hours will be held in Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg on Friday, June 10, from 4-7pm. The funeral Mass will be held in Saint Leo’s Church in Leominster on Saturday, June 11 at 10am. Burial will follow in Saint Cecilia’s Cemetery.
John J. Cotton, 69, of Leominster passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 7, 2022.
John was born in Fitchburg on February 7, 1953, a son of the late Edward and Catherine (Carney) Cotton. He graduated from Saint Bernard’s High School, class of 1971 and shortly after became a licensed electrician. He was a hardworking and devoted electrician, working for Fitchburg State University for over 42 years, retiring in 2021. He truly enjoyed being able to help family and friends with any electrical repair projects.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who treasured nothing more than spending time with his family, especially his grandson Jaxson. In his spare time he enjoyed golfing, or just simply listening to music and reading a good book. John will be forever remembered for his sense of humor and infectious laugh. He was loved by so many and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 49 years, Murielle (LeBlanc) Cotton; two children, Patrick Cotton and Erin Leavitt and her husband Keith; grandson Jaxson Leavitt; brothers, Richard Cotton and wife Julie, Edward Cotton and wife Donna, Robert Cotton and wife Lauren; many nieces and nephews.
John was predeceased by his brother Michael Cotton.
