John Andrew Calamare, known to loved ones as Jack, Squid, or Slippery, was born on June 21, 1953, in Leominster, MA, USA, and resided in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. He was known for his warm heart and jovial nature. As an avid pool player, he spent countless hours perfecting his game and was a familiar face at local pool halls. He was often found at the local library immersed in the pages of a new book.
He is survived by his siblings, Nancy Sommers, Walter Jr, and David Calamare, and his nieces, Corrie Sommers and Joy and Leo Couture, and his grand-nephew Reid Sommers. He was predeceased by his parents, Walter Sr and Jeannette Collette.
John's life was one of quiet simplicity, but his impact was significant. His love for pool and literature was contagious, inspiring others to take up these pastimes. His warm heart and kindness will be remembered by all who knew him.

The family will receive friends for calling hours on Monday, May 6, 2024, from 5:00 pm at Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Road, Fitchburg, Massachusetts, 01420. A funeral service to honor and celebrate John's life will be held at the same location later that day at 7:00 pm. His interment will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at 10:00 am. at the Evergreen Cemetery, Main Street, Leominster. MA.
