A calling hour will be held in Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg on Wednesday, May 10, from 5-6pm. A prayer service will begin at 6pm.
OBITUARY Fitchburg – Joan M. (Deschenes) Valera, 77, passed away on February 28, 2017. She was born on August 3, 1939 in Gardner, MA a daughter of the late Armand and Irene (Quinlisk) Deschenes. Joan graduated from the Venerini Academy in Worcester. She loved to travel and was a talented artist, who did everything from oil painting, water colors, to needlepoint and crocheting. She loved art and was very creative. Joan worked in several banks in Rockport and Gloucester, after her retirement, she moved to Newport Richey, FL. She is survived by her son Todd Valera; granddaughter Maria Valera, as well as her former husband John Valera and her many cousins.
