A calling hour will be held in Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg on Tuesday December 6th from 9:30-10:30am. The funeral Mass will be held at 11am in St. Bernard’s Parish at St. Camillus Church, 333 Mechanic St., Fitchburg following the calling hour. Burial will follow in St. Bernard’s Cemetery



Joan C. (Paton) Conroy, 92, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2022 in Sterling Village. She was born in Leominster on September 29, 1930, daughter of the late Irving and Jennie (Wilcox) Paton. She graduated from Lunenburg High School and later from Mount Wachusett Community College. Joan worked at Standard Pyroxyloid for 19 years before moving to Sampson Ocean Systems, where she worked for 10 years until its closing. She retired as a Purchasing Secretary in 2001 from Simplex after 12 years.

Joan was a daily communicant of St. Camillus Church, where she served as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister, sang in the choir, and taught CCD for 40 years. She was very involved in Fr. Diorio’s Music Ministry since 1976.

Joan is survived by her two daughters, Linda Friedmann and husband Brian of Sturbridge and Pam Lewis of Athol; three grandchildren, Christina Runnals and husband Dan of Scituate Melanie Goguen of Lunenburg, and Samuel Lewis and fiancé Lisy Veliz of Athol; five great grandchildren, Charlotte, Lucy, and Max Goguen, Callan and Ryan Runnals; siblings, Alan Paton and Kenneth Paton, both of Lunenburg; many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband John J. Conroy, Jr.; her brothers; Larry, Joseph, Bernard and Irving Paton, Jr.
