Jennie’s funeral will be held from Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg with a Mass in St. Anthony di Padua Church, 84 Salem St., Fitchburg, on Thursday, Oct 13 at 10 am. Interment at noon will be following at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen St., Winchendon. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, Oct 12 from 5 to 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital 501 St. Jude PL., Memphis, TN, which was her favorite charity
Jennie Ann (Anzalone) Bensuk, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away on October 6 in Cobb Hospital, Austell, GA. after a brief illness. She was born on March 16, 1920 to Antonio and Josephine Concetta (Fidente) Anzalone in Fitchburg, MA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander Francis. They shared 67 years together having married on August 10, 1946. Also preceding her were her 5 sisters and 3 brothers as well as many nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her two daughters;
Roberta (Kent) Pollins of The Villages, FL and Veronica (John) Fitzwater of Douglasville, GA with whom she resided.
Also surviving are her five grandchildren:
Kimberly (Joel) Anacker of Madison, WI, Jason (Michelle) Fitzwater of Douglasville, GA, Matthew Fitzwater of Atlanta, GA, Lindsay (Eric) Wild of Madison, WI and Keith (Claudia) Fitzwater of Atlanta, GA.
She also had six great grandchildren, three step great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jennie was a registered nurse who received her training at Cambridge City Hospital. She did work as a private duty nurse and worked at Burbank Hospital in the geriatric and obstetric wards. Her last position as a nurse was in the office of Dr. Donald Paiewonsky.
Her hobbies included reading, knitting, traveling all over the world. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and their children.
She was very active in the Girl Scouts of America volunteering several years as a leader taking a group of scouts to a jamboree in VT as well as motivating her troop to being top cookie sellers several times.
She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella when she lived in MA. A devout Catholic, she belonged to St. Theresa’s of the Child Jesus in Douglasville, GA.
