FITCHBURG, MA — Jeannette “Patsy” T. Brassard (Aubuchon), 86, of Fitchburg, passed away Friday, February 20 of natural causes; passing peacefully in her sleep.
Mrs. Brassard was born in Fitchburg MA on July 16, 1930, a daughter of George and Jeannette (L’Ecuyer) Aubuchon. She graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1948 and attended the nursing program at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital (formerly the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital) in Boston, MA. After receiving her R.N. degree, she worked at Burbank Hospital in Fitchburg, MA until 1979, and then in the maternity ward at UMass Memorial – HealthAlliance Hospital (formerly Leominster Hospital) in Leominster, MA., where she retired in 1994.
On April 18, 1953, she married Leonard J. Brassard of Fitchburg, and the couple raised their family in Fitchburg, often spending summers at Lake Shirley or at Cape Cod. They celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary days before her husband passed away on April 20, 2007, following a brief illness.
Mrs. Brassard will be always remembered for her generosity and unselfish giving of her time and resources to any friend or family member in need. Certainly, her annual Christmas gatherings and pork pies will live on in the memories of everyone who attended. She was also an avid fan of Fitchburg High School’s football team, especially their annual Thanksgiving Day game with Leominster High School.
Mrs. Brassard leaves three sons: Dr. Leonard M. Brassard and his wife, Brenda, of Fitchburg, Kenneth W. Brassard and his wife, Linda, of Winthrop, and James P. Brassard of Hyannis; six grandchildren: Bryan Healey and his wife, Kristi of Boston, Leonard D. Brassard and his wife, Joyce of Fitchburg, Brianna Proctor and her husband, Scott of Lunenburg, Amy Brassard and her fiancé, David Maillet of West Groton, Stephanie Lanier and her husband, Tyler of Lunenburg, and James Matthew Brassard of Winthrop; two great grandchildren: Eric Healy Proctor of Lunenburg, and Eliza Jane Brassard of Fitchburg; and many nieces and nephews.
