The funeral will be held Monday, January 2, 2023 from Brandon Funeral Home, Fitchburg with a Mass at 11:00 am in Our Lady of the Lake Church, 1400 Main St. Leominster. Calling hours are Monday from 9-10:30 am in the funeral home. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of the Lake Church.
After living a long, full, and spirited life, Jeanne Rose (Thibault) (Worthley) Jekanowski peacefully left us on December 27,2022, surrounded by the children she nurtured and raised.
Born In Fitchburg on December 24, 1933 she was a Christmas Eve gift to Cleophas and Leontine (Croteau) Thibault, Jeanne graduated St. Bernard’s High School 1951 then Springfield College with a Certificate in Social Services.
During her career, she held many positions including serving for the MOC Head Start, Digital Equipment Corporation, Fairfield University in Connecticut and finally as an Executive Assistant for Fleet Financial Group, where she retired in 2003.
Retirement didn’t stop Jeanne from living, she continued to be an active member at Our Lady of the Lake Parish serving on the Pastoral Council and the Assisted Living Ministry. Always wanting to help children, she volunteered at the Houghton Elementary School in Sterling and the Johnny Appleseed School in Leominster for several years. She was a member of the Johnny Appleseed Harmonizers and enjoyed singing at the various functions.
Most of all, Jeanne enjoyed spending time with her family, whether it be at family outings or the many family reunions. She loved and looked forward to the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her favorite pastime was creating greeting cards for family and friends.
She is survived by her eight children. Walter Worthley Jr. and his wife Charlotte, Sparks, Nevada; Clifford Worthley and his wife Amy, Lunenburg, MA; Anne Marie Cataldo and her husband Michael, Leominster, MA; Peter Worthley Sr. and his fiancé Shelley Chaisson, Rindge NH; David Worthley his wife Sandra, Westminster, MA; Laura Alzapiedi her husband Mark, Sterling MA; Thomas Worthley his wife Marilyn, Fitchburg, MA; Amy Forrest her husband Ronald, Sumiton, AL. Also, her stepson James Jekanowski of North Attleboro, MA. She leaves 20 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She also leaves a sister Yvonne St. Jean of Fitchburg, MA
She is predeceased by her husband Jacob Jekanowski, her parents, brothers Leo, Raymond, Henry, Richard, Robert, Donald and Lucien Thibault and her sisters Florence Jewett, Dora Fiorentino, Cecile Champa, great granddaughter Scarlet Leal and her former husband Walter Worthley Sr.
The family would like to thank the nurses, CNAs and activities department at The Highlands who provided for her daily care and entertainment.
