Jeanne Yvonne Calder

October 18, 1929 — November 5, 2024

Jeanne Y. (Turcotte) Calder, 95, of Lunenburg, MA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 5, 2024. She was the last surviving sibling of the late Ernest Jr. and Rosabelle (Fredette) Turcotte, and a loving wife of 49 years to the late George “Doc” Calder.

She was born in Taunton, Massachusetts on October 18, 1929, and spent most of her time growing up in Nashua, NH, were she graduated from St. Louis de Gonzague High School. She met her husband while in the Drum Corps, and they married on September 11, 1948. While raising a family, she went to work for Western Electric as a layout operator, where she retired after 33 years of service.

Jeanne loved driving and had a keen sense of direction. She kept the MA state police busy and we’re sure they will miss her! Memere also single-handedly kept printed newspapers in business and ate up local news. She completed jigsaw puzzles regularly and enjoyed newspaper puzzles of all types. She was an avid reader for many years, but she always read the ending before buying a book to ensure it was a happy ending. Above all, Jeanne loved being with her family and sharing in their lives.

She is survived and loved dearly by her five children and their spouses, Diana DeNapoli of Salem, MA, Doug and Joan Calder of Sandown, NH, Donna Healey of Lunenburg, MA, David Calder and Paulette LaPlume of Derry, NH, and Debra and George “Doc” Johnson of Allenstown, NH. Memere also loved and was deeply loved by her 17 grandchildren (Mikey was her favorite by far, and no one is upset about that), and 11+ great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held at BRANDON FUNERAL HOME 305 Wanoosnoc Rd, Fitchburg, MA 01420 on Saturday, November 16th from 9:00 to 11:00 AM followed by a Funeral Mass starting at 12:00 PM at St. Boniface Church 817 Massachusetts Ave, Lunenburg, MA 01462.
