The funeral Mass will be held in Saint Anthony di Padua Church, 84 Salem St., Fitchburg on Thursday, December 15th at 11am. Burial will follow in St. Bernard’s Cemetery. There are no calling hours. J.P. Raymond Goguen, 96, of Fitchburg, passed away on December 8, 2022.
Born in Gardner, MA, Mr. Goguen attended Gardner Schools. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Becker College in Worcester.
Mr. Goguen started his professional career as a Junior Accountant at Florence Stove Co., Gardner; was Controller/Assistant Treasurer of Wain-Roy Corp; Division Controller of the Defense Products Division, Independent Lock Co. Mr. Goguen was employed in various financial positions at the former Foster Grant Corp. of Leominster for twenty years. He retired in 1990 as the Director of Finance.
He enjoyed his Cape Cod summer home in Brewster, MA for many years. Mr. Goguen was Past President of the Mass North Central Chapter, National Association of Accountants and Emeritus Life Member of the Institute of Management Accountants, Worcester Chapter. He was also a Justice of the Peace. He was a member of the Eastwood Club, the Fitchburg Retired Men’s Club and the North Leominster Rod and Gun Club.
Mr. Goguen served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II as a Ball Turret Gunner on the B-17 Bomber. He was stationed at Various Air Force Bases in the United States. He was awarded a diploma from Gardner High School in 1999 in a ceremony for veterans who left high school to serve in the war.
He is survived by his son Ronald Goguen, Sr. and his wife Arleen of Brewster, two precious grandchildren, Molly and Ronald, Jr.
Mr. Goguen was predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years, Paula (Granata) Goguen and his sister Rita Deeley.
