A funeral service will be held Friday, March 17, 2017 at 2 pm in Brandon Funeral Home, 17 Main St., Ashburnham. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4-7 pm. Burial will be in the spring in New Cemetery.
FITCHBURG – Ingrid (Ahola) Landry Berger, 82, died Saturday, March 11, 2017.
She was born January 13, 1935 in Lappajarvi, Finland, the daughter of Ernest and Saima (Nuranen) Ahola. She came to the United States, arriving in Brooklyn, in January of 1949 and then moved to Ashburnham a year later where her parents bought property on Lake Watatic. She graduated from Cushing Academy in 1954 as class salutatorian. She is well known in Ashburnham as the Secretary of John R Briggs Elementary School from 1965 to 2000.
Ingrid was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. She was a member at Saima Park where she enjoyed many activities over the years. She and her second husband, George wintered in Key Largo, Florida and traveled extensively worldwide since retirement. She was also a very active member of the American Legion Auxiliary post 142 for more than 50 years.
She leaves her husband of 14 years, Hans-George Berger, two sons, Robert Landry of Ashburnham and Donald Landry of Ashburnham, a daughter, Catherine and her husband, James Glockling, of Westminster, two grandsons, Shawn Landry, and Derek Landry and his wife Lisa, and two great granddaughters, Patricia Landry and Bailey Rose Landry. Her first husband, Raymond H. Landry died in 1987.
