Ida C. Ferzoco, age 96, of Leominster, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 18, 2023. She was predeceased by her husband, Osvaldo Ferzoco, in 2021.
Ida is survived by her son, Pelino “Bill” Ferzoco and daughter-in-law Corrine Ferzoco; her daughter Anna (Ferzoco) Tocci and son-in-law Richard Tocci; her beloved grandchildren: Thomas and Meghan Ferzoco, Michael and Emily Ferzoco, Elizabeth and Brandon Estrella, Leslie Tocci, and Caroline Tocci; five great-grandchildren: June and Rose Ferzoco, Isabelle Ferzoco, and Branson and Caelus Estrella; her twin brother, Rivelo “Ray” Campagna and sister-in-law, Joyce Campagna, as well as numerous dear nieces and nephews.
Ida was predeceased by her sister, Edda Vittorioso, Maria (Campagna) Pianezza, and brothers Nemesio, Alessandro, and Rolando Campagna, as well as her grandniece, Vanessa T. Marcotte.
After marrying Osvaldo in Corfinio, Italy, Ida immigrated to the United States in 1949. She settled in Dedham and later moved to Leominster where the Campagna, Vittorioso, and Ferzoco families co-founded Star Container Corrugated Box Company, pursuing their “American Dream.”
Ida was a skilled tailor and seamstress and worked in that field during her early years in the United States.
Ida’s life was filled with love and rich in tradition. She had a passion for cooking and delighted in passing down the customs of her Italian heritage to her grandchildren. Ida took pride in sharing her stories of both hardship and joy. To anyone who would listen, she detailed her experiences of living through the Nazi occupation during World War II, immigrating to America, and building a beautiful family in her new beloved country. Later in life, Ida discovered the excitement of “Foxwoods” and enjoyed many memorable trips there with her friends. She also enjoyed traveling to Florida and to her hometown in Italy. Ida epitomized a “life well-lived” and leaves behind a legacy that will be treasured by all who knew her.
The Ferzoco/Tocci family want to express their gratitude to the staff at Life-Care of Leominster for their care and support. In lieu of flowers, please consider making contributions in Ida’s memory to the Vanessa T. Marcotte Foundation, 67 West St., Medfield, MA 0205 (vtmf.org/donate).
Funeral services will be private.
