LEOMINSTER - After a long and hard-fought battle with uterine cancer, on September 15, 2023, I embarked on my next adventure reuniting with my beloved parents, my sister, and all my cherished puppies. In this moment know that I am surrounded by love and wagging tails.
I was born in Leominster on April 6, 1952, to Richard Skehan and Alice Boivin, of whom I was predeceased. I was also predeceased by my baby sister Barbara (Skehan) Fortin which I never totally got over. She was such a huge loss.
I leave behind my brother Michael Skehan and his wife Paula (Testa) of Newhall, CA, my nephew Bret Skehan of Woodland Hills, CA, and my great niece and nephew Jaxson and Jayden Skehan.
I also leave behind my niece Misty Skehan, my most favorite person on the planet.
I had many different jobs in my life but none I enjoyed more than my time at the Sterling Shelter. Never did I feel more at home and satisfied with the work I was doing, caring for and finding homes for the homeless pets that came to us.
I want to thank all the people that I loved and who loved me. You know who you are, and you also know I could be known at times to have quite a mouth on me, but always coming from a place of love and humor.
I chose to donate my body science. It's my wish that by studying my disease the next woman to find herself in the same deadly situation will find some hope for a cure.
In my memory, please donate to the Sterling Animal Shelter, 17 Laurelwood Road, Sterling MA 01564.
Per my wishes, no funeral services will be held. However, a gathering of family and friends will be held in the spring.
