Calling hours will be held in Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg, on Thursday, August 2, from 5-8pm. Words of remembrance will begin at 8pm.

OBITUARY
Fitchburg – Helen M. (Moore) Fortier, 82, of Fitchburg, passed away on Sunday, July 29, in UMass Medical Center.
Helen was born in Fitchburg on September 15, 1935, a daughter of the late George and Mary (Pucko) Moore. She completed her education through the Lunenburg Schools, and while in High School, she starred on the girls’ basketball team. After raising her family, Helen worked for TC Passios School in the cafeteria, as well as Conrad’s Drive in and Onyx Catering.
Helen’s happy place was the beach. Along with her husband Chet, she would enjoy winters at their home in Bradenton, Fl, and spend summers in Seabrook, NH. She always looked forward to yearly vacations to Aruba. Her other favorite pastimes include playing Bingo and knitting. She was such a talented knitter, who crafted beautiful sweaters for family and friends. Helen was a wonderful cook and enjoyed cooking for family gatherings.
She will be fondly remembered as an avid sports fan. She followed the Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics, and the Bruins, and was quick to recite their stats.
She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Chester “Chet” Fortier of Fitchburg; six children, Ginny Fortier and significant other Dick Fetner of Hubbardston, Peggy Lawler and significant other Shayne Jordan of Fitchburg, Shari Letarte and significant other Lynne Palazzi of Lunenburg, Chet Fortier Mitch Fortier of Coventry, RI, Matt Fortier and significant other Erin Frazel of Westminster; 13 grandchildren, Brittany, Erika, Trevor, and Nevin Lawler, Chanelle Letarte, Nick and Tyler and Fortier, Nina and Luke Fortier, Sydney, Alex, Maddie, and Noah Fortier; one great grandchild, Roman Cutter. She is also survived by her siblings, Tom Moore of Fitchburg, Barbara Flechtner and husband Ron of Cape Cod, Marty Moore and wife Jane of Fitchburg, Maryanne Prosnak of GA, Debbie Nagy of MA, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
