Calling hours are from 3:30 – 5 Friday, January 20 at the Brandon Funeral Home, 17 Main St., Ashburnham. A prayer service will be held at 5:00. Burial will be in the spring
Harold R. Long, 72, of Ashburnham passed away at Leominster Hospital on Friday, January 13, 2017. Harold was born in Meridian, Mississippi, a son of William and Yvonne (Roy) Long.
Harold is survived by his wife Janice Hopkins.
Harold was a child of a military family and growing up lived in a number of places including Japan, Hawaii, Alaska, New York and California.
Harold served in the Navy and during this time worked on Aircraft Systems.
Eventually Harold’s career brought him to Massachusetts. He worked for Digital Equipment Corporation for many years and later worked as VP and CTO of BT Americas Inc. where he retired in 2014.
Harold had interests and hobbies that included cooking, photography, RV’ing, making furniture, showing dogs/Boxers, and was a member of the Fitchburg Sportsmen’s Club.
Harold was predeceased by his wife Kathleen Schweickhardt Long in 2003 and his daughter Rebecca Long in 2003. He was also predeceased by his brother Randall Long in 2015.
