Gretchen Jean Schrader, known affectionately to many as ‘Gretch,’ was born on April 5th, 1964, in New London, CT, and bid her farewell on January 16th, 2024. Gretchen lost her long struggle with Multiple Sclerosis and the various other afflictions that plagued her. She will be missed by all who truly knew her. She fell asleep and never woke up. Her pain is over. My heart is hurting.
Gretchen's life was a testament to compassion and courage, qualities she wore like a second skin. Throughout her journey, Gretchen emitted a loving aura that touched everyone she met. She was a beacon of thoughtfulness, always taking the time to understand and assist those around her.
Gretchen spent a significant portion of her life in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, where she was not just a waitress but a confidante and friend to many in the food industry. Her loving spirit made her an unforgettable presence. Gretchen was a woman of many talents, but her passion lay in the beauty of nature. She found joy in picking and arranging flowers, each bouquet a testament to her artistic eye. Also, her drawings were a visual representation of her soul - full of color, emotion, and immense beauty. Her bugle melodies filled the air of Fitchburg, a unique soundtrack that will be deeply missed.
What mattered most to Gretchen was family. She will join her Dad Lenny, her brother Jeffery, and sister Damon Schrader. All who predeceased her. She is survived by her Mother Jean Harvey, brother Christoper King, nephew Camdyn and his Mom Jennifer Karagosian and sister Teagan, stepfather Melvin (Gene) King. Aunt Janet Romano's cousins Steven, John, Sharon, and Donna Romano and her daughter Alysa Stevens and her son and daughter. Carolyn and Eric Gaetz and their sons Alec and Ryan. Gretchen's love for her family was unparalleled, her bond with them unbreakable. Even in their loss, they find comfort in the memories of her courageous spirit, her compassionate heart, and her loving nature.
We invite all who knew and loved Gretchen to leave memories and upload photos to her memorial page. Her life touched many, and sharing these moments will allow her spirit to continue to inspire and comfort us. Let us celebrate Gretchen Jean Schrader – a woman of courage, compassion, and unwavering love.
