Calling hours will be held in Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg on Sunday, May 20, from 4-6pm.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, May 21, in Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 1319 Main Street Fitchburg at 11:00am. A calling hour will be held in the church prior to the service from 10-11 am.
Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 1319 Main St., Fitchburg, MA 01420.
Ashburnham – Gregory S. Bourekas, 54, of Ashburnham, passed away suddenly on Friday, May 11, 2018.
Greg was born in Fitchburg on February 10, 1964 a son of Spiros Bourekas and the late Nancy (Lastella) Bourekas. He graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1982 and earned his Bachelor’s degree from UMass Lowell.
Greg began his career at IC Credit Union and later worked for St. Mary’s Credit Union in Marlborough. He was recently the AVP of Indirect Lending at the Leominster Credit Union.
Greg was very active in the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Fitchburg. Since 1992, he has served on the Church Council, holding various positions such as Vice President, Past President, Secretary and most recently as Treasurer. Greg was a member of the Holy Trinity Mens’ Club and was instrumental in organizing the church festivals each fall.
Greg enjoyed summering in Kennebunkport, Maine and vacationing to Venice, Florida. He was a car enthusiast and attended many car shows. He was an avid Boston sports fan. Above all else, Greg loved his family and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his two sons, Matthew and Alexander Bourekas of Ashburnham; his father Spiros “Spike” Bourekas of Fitchburg; companion Melissa Adams of Ashburnham; former wife Joanne (Richard) Bourekas of Winchendon; long time friend Thomas Mara and wife Mary of Leominster; long time friend Geoffrey Evancic and wife Donna of Ashburnham.
Greg was predeceased by his mother Nancy (Lastella) Bourekas on March 16, 2018.
