It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend; Gregg Stephen Pappas, known affectionately as "Pappy," on June 7, 2024. Born on January 18, 1955, in Fitchburg, MA,
Gregg's life was a testament to the power of love, laughter, and generosity. His witty one-liners and contagious smile brightened every room he entered, and his innate ability to make people laugh brought joy to all who knew him.
Gregg was a devoted family man, a trait that shone brightly in every aspect of his life. His love for his wife of 48 years, Elaine, his son Gregg, and his sister Elaine, was deep and unwavering. His greatest joy was the time he spent with his grandchildren, Tucker and Mackenzie.
As an accomplished toolmaker, Gregg had a distinguished career at General Electric in both Fitchburg Turbine Division and Lynn Aircraft Division. He retired in 2010 after 35 years of dedicated service. Despite his achievements, Gregg remained humble and generous, always willing to lend a helping hand.
In his free time, Gregg was an avid golfer. In his younger years he was a member at Monoosnock County Club. Later in life he enjoyed golfing with his "brothers" Jimmy, Denny and Jeff at both the Woods of Westminster and the Westminster County Clubs. He also enjoyed shooting darts and playing pool at O'Brien's Pub and The St Joe's Club.
Gregg's humor was as infectious as it was consistent and endearing. He was a homebody at heart, happiest when sharing a meal with his family, watching sports with his son, or engaging in a competitive game of cards or cribbage - especially when he won! He also loved visiting the casino and playing keno with his buddies. His life was full of simple, joyful moments that highlighted his funny and loving nature.
Gregg is survived by his wife Elaine, son Gregg, sister Elaine Ehnstrom, grandchildren MacKenzie and Tucker Pappas, brother-in-law Rick (Jan) Fredericks, and sister-in-law Jan (Rick) Fredericks, and brother-in-law Ray Fredericks as well as many-many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Perry Pappas, mother Rita Pappas, brother James Pappas, and sister Constance Pananos.
