A Memorial Service will be held on December 10th at 4pm at the Fitchburg Church of the Nazarene, on 800 South Street, Fitchburg, MA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Friends of Fitchburg Veterans, c/o Veterans’ Homestead 14 Wallace Avenue, Fitchburg, MA with checks made payable to Veterans’ Homestead.



Gordon Wesley North, 82, died Monday, November 27, surrounded by his loved ones, at UMASS University Campus Hospital in Worcester, MA after a tragic accident.

 

Gordon was born and raised in Orange, MA and graduated from Orange High School, after which he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He retired from Nissen Baking Co. in 1997 after 30 years of service and was an active member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 170. He enjoyed watching sports, loved traveling with his wife, spending time with friends, and playing cribbage at the Senior Center. He was a member of the Lunenburg Sportsman’s Club.

 

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Alice F. North; his daughters Catherine A. North-Erickson and her husband Robert Erickson, Nancy A. Cummings, and Patricia M. North-Martino and her husband David; his step-daughters Teresa A. Hammerbeck and her husband Robert, Kathy L. Marques and her husband David, and Marcia E. Wiles and her husband Richard; eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; his sisters Florence Manewich, Lois Burr, Dorothy Horne, and Muriel Hunt, and his brother Oren North; and many nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents Arlan Frederick North and Mary (Blackmer) North; his first wife Carol A. North; his son Peter G. North; brothers Arlan (Hank) North Jr., Earl North, and Robert North.
