The funeral will be held Tuesday, September 1, from Brandon Funeral Home, Fitchburg, with a Mass at 10:00 am in St. Camillus Church, 333 Mechanic St. Burial will follow in St. Bernard’s Cemetery. FITCHBURG – Gloria “Gerrie” (Geremia) Palmer, 85, passed away Friday, August 28, peacefully at home in her sleep.
She was born November 22, 1929 in Fitchburg, the daughter of Albert and Celeste (Fava) Geremia. She worked for 20 years as an Administrative Assistant at Fitchburg State University in the Special Needs program retiring in 1992.
Gerrie was a member of Sacred Heart Church and also attended St. Camillus Church. She enjoyed flower gardening, Frank Sinatra music, painting with oils and going to the family beach house in Middletown, RI. She also enjoyed spending time in Hingham with all her “neighborhood friends.” Saturday nights were spent with her family at the 99 Restaurant in Fitchburg.
Her husband of 55 years, Robert E. Palmer, died in 2004. She leaves her son, Randy R. Palmer and his wife, Debra L. Neville-Palmer, of Lunenburg, her grandchildren, Erica N. Saccoccio, Tarin N. Patrikis, Katie Boudreau and Ryan Palmer, three great grandchildren, two sisters, Sally Duval and her husband, Robert, of Fitchburg and Nancy Tremblay and her husband, Robert, of Lunenburg and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Kevin S. Palmer, who died in 1996, three sisters, Lillian Stanton, Jay Angelini and Lucy King and two brothers, Andrew Cechin and John Cechin.
