George Hyde Marston, 89, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2024. George was a loving husband, father, "grampa" and friend, his supportive nature and loyal spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
George was born September 9, 1935 in Mount Vernon, NY to George E. & Doris Marston. A current resident of Fitchburg, MA and formerly of Venice, FL, Chelmsford, MA, & Bedford, MA
George graduated High School from The Huntington School for Boys in 1954. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from University of Massachusetts in 1958 and went on to earn a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1968. He started his career in electrical engineering and as computers became more popular he changed industries and became a software engineer. He worked for a variety of tech companies until his retirement in 2008
George was passionate about Tennis and he played into his early 80's. He enjoyed riding his bicycle and was often seen riding in his community. George was a die hard New England Patriots fan and, despite living in Florida, he figured out a way to watch all of their games. When relaxing he enjoyed reading especially mysteries. He enjoyed traveling and visited many places during his long life.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Ellen Marston, and their children Andrea Nelson (Todd), Gretchen Mellino (Derek), Chris Halpin (Jenn), Elyse Miles (Matt) & Michael Gallery (Amy). His Grandchildren: Jillian, Jackson, Liam & Meaghan Nelson; Gianna & Nicholas Mellino; Makayla & Christopher Halpin; Kaycee, Logan & Gavin Miles. His Nephews: Will Marston (Joy), Robert Flanagan (Elaine) and Nieces Nancy Robotti (Randy) & Patricia Troppe (Patrick)
He was predeceased by his parents, George E. and Doris Marston, and his sisters, Winifred Flanagan and Joan Pelman.
His life will be celebrated in a private ceremony.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
