OBITUARY

Fitchburg – George D. Reed, 71, of Fitchburg, passed away on Thursday, March 3, in his home.

George was born in Leominster on May 11, 1944, a son of the late George and Mildred (Espie) Reed. He graduated from the Leominster Saxon Trade School. George enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge in 1967. For over 20 years he worked for Sani-Toy in Fitchburg. Some of his fondest memories were coaching his two sons in Little League. George was mechanically inclined and enjoyed fixing cars and machinery. He was an outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing. George was a loyal Patriots and Red Sox fan, who was always up for a political debate. He loved his family and adored his grandchildren; he will be sadly missed by his children, grandchildren, siblings, and former wife.

He leaves his two sons, Jason Reed and wife Melissa of Maine; Aaron Reed and his wife Lynn of Worcester; grandchildren, Giana, Cameron, and Halle Reed; former wife, Diane (Garrison) Reed of Fitchburg; siblings, Donna Fluet and husband Joseph of Fitchburg, Patricia Paszek and husband Glenn of Tennessee, and Robert Reed and wife Lisa of Gardner; many nieces and nephews.

George was predeceased by his brother, Charles Reed.
