The funeral will be held from Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg on Wednesday, December 21, with a Mass in Saint Anthony di Padua Church in Fitchburg at 10:30am. A calling hour will be held prior to the Mass in the funeral home from 9-10am. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Saint Anthony di Padua Church, 84 Salem St., Fitchburg 01420 or to the Montachusett Interfaith Hospitality Network, 758 Main Street, Leominster, MA 01453.



OBITUARY RETIRED R.N. OF FITCHBURG; 92 Fitchburg – Geneva M. (Cormier) Orlando, 92, of Fitchburg, passed away in her home on December 9, 2016, with her family by her side. Mrs. Orlando was born in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada on May 11, 1924, a daughter of the late Fidele and Elise (LeBlanc) Cormier. She attended schools and nursing school in Moncton, N.B., graduating in 1946. Mrs. Orlando came to the U.S. in 1951, and worked at the Heywood Hospital in Gardner and then Leominster Hospital, assisting in the birth of many babies for 26 years. She was a member of St. Anthony di Padua Church and a Eucharistic Minister, who visited the homebound and nursing homes. She was devoted to her family and to her crafts, coordinating the knitting and crochet program at the Fitchburg Library. Mrs. Orlando was a member of the Booster Club and the Wednesday exercise program at the senior center. Geneva was also very active in the Massachusetts Head Injury Association. She leaves two daughters, Elise White of Leominster and Jane Orlando and her husband, Damon Resch, of Gettysburg, Pa.; one son, Paul J. Orlando of Ashburnham; grandchildren, Jessica Daley, Kim Fontaine, Nathan and Andrew White, Karlee, Brittany, and Paul Orlando Jr., of Leominster, and many great-grandchildren. She also leaves one sister, Alta Boudreau of Hartford, CT; two brothers, Rodric Cormier and Paul Cormier, residing in Canada, and many nieces and nephews. Geneva was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Michael Orlando in 2004, her son, Michael A. Orlando in 2005. She was also predeceased by her sisters Florence Kingston and Bernette Cormier.
