The funeral will be held Wednesday, December 24, 2014 from Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg with a Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, 49 Woodland St. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon. Louis N. Gagne, Jr., “The Old Buck”, 87, passed away December 21, 2014 in his home surrounded by his loving family.He was born September 1, 1927 in Fitchburg, the son of Louis N. Gagne, Sr. and Elizabeth (LeBlanc) Gagne.He was employed by Bessette Plate Glass Co. in Fitchburg for 24 years retiring in 1989. Previously, he drove truck for Selig Manufacturing Co.He was a member of the Eastwood Club, American Legion Post 429 and British American Club where he pitched for their softball team. He was an avid Boston sports fan, loved to fish and hunt and built a camp in Chester, Vermont. Later in life, he established and tended to an organic vegetable garden at his home.He was a wonderful husband who lovingly cared for his wife for many years prior to her passing.His wife of 61 years, Eleanor (Rines) Gagne died April 24, 2011. He leaves his son, Louis N. Gagne, III, and his wife, Sigi, of Fitchburg; five daughters, Katherine M. Dickerson and her husband, Robert M., of Moscow, Russia, Irene E. Gagne and her fiancé, David Rochette, of Centerville, Denise Murray of Fitchburg, Nancy Gagne and her companion, Robert Palmer, of Fitchburg, and Mary E. Nickerson and her husband, Chris, of Harwich; his sister, Constance Bennett of Ashby, 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.He was predeceased by 12 siblings.
