Following a luncheon at the church, a 2 pm committal service will be held at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery on 111 Glenallen St. in Winchendon. In lieu of flowers, the family thankfully requests donations be made in Frank Temple’s memory to the Gideon’s International or Rumney Bible Conference, PO Box 99, Rumney, NH.

Frank was born in Marlborough on April 25, 1925 a son of the late Frank and Viola (Courtemarche) Temple. After graduating High School, Frank joined the Army and proudly served his country as part of the 104th Timberwolf Division. Upon returning home, Frank pursued a career with the Massachusetts Electric Company for 41 years. Frank loved the outdoors and shared this love for mountain climbing, canoeing, driving back roads and camping with his family. Frank spent many years supporting youth in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Boys Brigade through his church. He loved to sing, and was a longtime member of the church choir and Barbershop quartets, bringing enjoyment to local nursing homes. As a passionate reader of history, he loved to visit war memorials with his grandchildren. It was very special to him to return to Europe later in life, to pay tribute to his friends that had lost their lives alongside him during WWII. As expressed in the heartfelt words of one of his granddaughters, “His great faith and love for the Lord will forever be imprinted on us. I will never forget his motto to ‘pray all the time, no matter what you are doing.’ We will miss his stories and singing. I will always remember standing next to him during the Christmas Eve service at church and soaking in the sound of his deep tenor voice singing Silent Night in German. It is comforting to know he is with his Savior, with family who went before him, and when we all get to heaven what a day of rejoicing that will be!” Frank is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dorothy (Franz) Temple of Lunenburg, Dr. Peter Temple and his wife Susan (Kulp) of North Carolina, Cameron Temple and his wife Beverly (Peebles) of New Hampshire, Jeffrey Temple and his wife Hillary (Noke) of Vermont, Jennifer (Temple) Murray and her husband Alan of Ashby, Jocelyn (Temple) Collins and her husband Vincente also from Ashby; 16 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and a brother Paul Temple and his wife Patricia of Southbridge. He was pre-deceased by his two sisters, Elverlina Cormier and Gloria Carroll of Marlborough.
