A celebration of Fran’s life will be held at a later date.
Worcester – Francis (Fran) X. Hanlon Jr., 63, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on February 16th after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Fran was born and raised in West Islip, NY., the oldest son of the late Francis X Hanlon Sr. and Mary Patricia Hanlon.
Fran moved to Massachusetts in 1990 and began working at Wachusett Mtn. Ski Area where he discovered his work passion and met his former wife, Kim Drury Hanlon, mother of their three sons. He went on to spend 30 years as a proud licensed electrician. Fran was an ardent supporter of his children and loved the many hours he spent volunteering and supporting the Joe Schwartz Little League Field. Besides enjoying his sons’ sporting events, he relished fishing, the New England Patriots and family time at Cape Cod, whenever possible. He especially cherished the hours spent in “5-0,” the multi-purpose addition he built to the family home. Fran’s love for his sons and his entire extended family was what drove him. Fran’s smile and laugh were infectious and his affinity for Allman Brothers music was legendary. His sons will tell you that it was the soundtrack to his life.
Fran is survived by his loving children, Frankie, Brandon and Luke Hanlon; their Mom, Kim Drury Hanlon; siblings, Kathleen Ricciardi (Peter), Elizabeth Hanlon, Pete Hanlon (Brandy); nieces Yvonne Hart, Summer Ricciardi and Riley LeFors (Franc) and nephews, Blake and Ben Ricciardi along with many cousins. Kim’s unselfish support of Fran throughout his health struggle was greatly appreciated by Fran as well as the rest of his family.
