Lunenburg – Francis W. “Kelley” Kelley, 83, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 in Leominster Hospital surrounded by his family.
Kelley was born in Concord, MA on February 22, 1938; he was one of nine children born to Mark and Olga (Bobik) Kelley. Following his passion for taking care of people, Kelley went on to graduate from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and began his career at Children’s Hospital in Boston. In 1962, he began working as a pharmacist at Burbank Hospital, where he worked for 38 years and became Director of Pharmacy.
Kelley was a Pharmacology instructor at both Mt. Wachusett Community College and Henry Heywood’s School of Nursing Program.
He loved people and people loved him. He always had a new story or joke to share, and he loved to make people laugh. Kelley had many interests and hobbies; he loved reading spy and thriller novels, listening to Jazz, collecting and repairing antique tools and gas engines, and was an avid baker. Friends and family always looked forward to the holidays when they could sample his delicious homemade pies.
Family was the center of Kelley’s world. He treasured the time he spent with all of them. During the winters, Kelley and his wife, Donna, hosted sledding parties and led their family on cross-country skiing adventures. The spring brought family trips to Disney World, other points in Florida, Mexico, the Caribbean, Italy and Ireland. During the summer, Kelley enjoyed time at Lake Ossipee in New Hampshire where he and his family developed close, lifelong friendships with other families. In more recent years, Kelley and Donna traded in the New England winters for the tropics, spending the winter in Hawaii with their daughter and her family.
Kelley is survived by his wife of 57 years, Donna M. (Curtis) Kelley of Lunenburg; children, Lisa Kelley-Connor and husband Brent of Bethesda, MD, Timothy Kelley and wife Patricia of Madison, NJ, Kevin Kelley and wife Katie of Longmont, CO, Shaunna GaNun and husband Peter of Kalaheo, HI; nine grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
