The funeral will be held from Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg on Monday, September 18, with a Mass in Holy Family of Nazareth Church, 710 Union St., Leominster at 11:00am. Burial will follow in Saint Cecilia’s Cemetery in Leominster. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, September 17, from 3-6pm in the funeral home.In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions be made to the VNA Hospice and Palliative Care, 100 Trade Center – G500, Woburn, MA 01801.
Leominster – Eugene P. Brideau, 90, of Leominster, passed away peacefully at home on September 14, surrounded by his family.
Eugene was born in Leominster on June 1, 1927, a son of the late Pierre and Ella (Albert) Brideau. He proudly served his country in the US Army until his honorable discharge in 1949.
Eugene started his business Brideau Sheet Metal in 1966, with the third generation now managing it. He was a longtime member of the Rotary Club and a Paul Harris recipient. He loved to play Tennis and Bridge, and was a member of the Audubon Society. Eugene was an avid skier, having skied in Europe, US, and New Zealand. He traveled extensively with his wife, taking nearly 40 cruises.
He leaves his children, Carol Salacian and husband Paul of York, Maine, David Brideau and wife Lauri of Leominster, Jayne Brideau of Leominster, and Joan Prince and husband Doug of Leominster; grandchildren, David Brideau, Jr., Karla Brown, Joshua Dean, Jonathon Dean, and Katherine Doyan; great grandchildren, Dylan, Alex, Austin, Olivia, Layla, Andrew, and Hunter. He is also survived by his siblings, Roger Brideau and wife Jeanette, May LaVenture, Gerard “Dickie” Brideau and wife, Lucille, Anne Marie Barba, Marguerite Coughlin, all of Leominster; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Eugene was predeceased by his wife Doris (Suomala) Brideau in 2006, and his siblings, Robert Brideau, G. Vern Brideau, Geralda Perla, Jeanne Landry, and Lorraine LaCross.
