Eric A. Mantyla

Calling hours will be held in Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg on Friday, April 20 from 9:00-11:00am. A service will be held at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in St. Bernard’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to Boston Children’s Hospital.
Fitchburg – Eric A. Mantyla, 71, of Fitchburg, passed away Monday, April 16, 2018 in Albany Medical Center after a brief illness.
Eric was born in Boston, MA on January 11, 1947, a son of the late Waino and Laimie (Nikander) Mantyla.
Eric graduated from Lunenburg High School then graduated from Worcester Industrial Technical Institute, specializing in auto mechanics. Eric was employed at Kelly Buick in Worcester before becoming a Machine Inspector at several companies, including Norton Company in Worcester and Stromberg Tool and Machine Co. in Sterling. Eric has been a truck driver for over 30 years, 20 of which were with Wal-Mart Transportation. Eric recently reached the milestone of 2 million accident free miles as a truck driver. Eric was an avid car and model train enthusiast and a member of the Ashburnham Modular Railroad Club. Eric enjoyed riding motor cycles and attending drag races and stock car races. Eric was a hard worker and enjoyed spending time with his family.
Eric is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary (Morrilly) Mantyla of Fitchburg;
a son Philip Mantyla and his wife Celena (Anctil) Mantyla of Leominster;
grandchildren, Annika and Gabrielle Mantyla; and
brother, Richard Mantyla and his wife Vikki Mantyla of Sarasota, Florida.
