Elizabeth Sardelis

Elizabeth Sardelis (Angelos), age 96, and a lifelong resident of Fitchburg, MA, passed away on April 29, 2023 at Health Alliance Hospital Leominster, Ma.

Elizabeth was born on July 31, 1926, to the late Thomas and Argero (Sgouros) Angelos, in Fitchburg, MA. She graduated from Fitchburg High School class of 1944. Beauty School in Manchester NH Hair Dressing License

Elizabeth acquired much experience in the retail field working at Parke Snow Department store, Bay State Curtain, and other locally owned retail stores. She spent time as a teller for Fitchburg Savings Bank. She was part owner of the Ayer House of Pizza, and shared ownership with her husband Christos of Tool Town Pizza in Athol, Ma as well as Elm House of Pizza in Manchester, NH for many years.

She was an avid artist having taken art classes at Fitchburg State College, focusing on water color paintings as well as charcoal sketches often entering her works at the Leominster Art Association art shows.

“Lefty”, as she was known to family and friends, was an enthusiastic hostess to extended family each year around the holidays, especially Christmas. She loved preparing and cooking traditional Greek fare and authentic Greek pastries for her family and relatives.

She was predeceased by her husband Christos in 1990, and more recently her son Charles in 2022. Three sisters, Anastasia Panageotis of Fitchburg, Bessie Psirogianis of Manchester NH, Stehanie Bamikas of Worcester, MA, and her mother Argero Angelos, predeceased her many years ago.

She is survived by two sons, Peter Sardelis of Fitchburg, Ma, Elias Sardelis of Fitchburg, Ma,a granddaughter Victoria Carle, her brother James T. Angelos of Fitchburg, Ma, her sister Stella Michael and a number of nephews and nieces.

A wake will be held at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 1319 Main St, Fitchburg, MA 01420, from 10 am to 11 am on Friday, May 5, followed by a funeral mass at 11 am. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, 115 Mt Elam Rd, Fitchburg, MA 01420.
