Elizabeth Reid (Richardson), 70, of Fitchburg, MA passed away at home on Monday, March 11, 2024 surrounded by her loving family and friends. 

Elizabeth was born in Fitchburg, MA on June 6, 1953, to Dorothy Smith Richardson and Stanley Babb Richardson Sr. She attended Fitchburg High School, received a BS Degree in Education from Fitchburg State University and a master’s degree from Antioch University NE.

Elizabeth, known most of her life as Betty, married David Reid and they recently celebrated 51 years of marriage.  She worked as an educator for 36 years in the Monadnock Regional School District and spent most of those years teaching in Fitzwilliam NH. Betty also worked for Antioch University training educators in the Critical Skills Program around New England and in the United Kingdom. 

Betty was a devoted wife, mother, nana, and friend. She enjoyed following her daughter’s, husband’s, and grandchildren’s athletic teams as well as, quilting, reading, gardening and hiking on local trails with her friends and rescue pups. Betty loved the outdoors and the environment and was proud to work with North County Land Trust on maintaining trails and as a member of their Board of Directors. 

Betty is survived by her husband David, their daughter Jennifer Reid Curtis and her partner Rodney Dean of Ashburnham, grandson Samuel Curtis, granddaughter Mia Curtis, a brother Stanley Richardson of CO., sisters Jane Emanuelson of VT. and Cheryl Moy of Framingham MA. along with several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and a brother Dale Richardson.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at The Colonial Hotel at 625 Betty Springs Road, Gardner Ma 01440 on March 23rd, at 11:00 am.  Memorial donations may be made in Betty’s name to North County Land Trust,  325 Lindell Ave, Leominster, Ma 01453. 

Arrangements are under the care of Brandon Funeral Home.
