The funeral will be held from Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg on Thursday, April 28, with a Mass in Holy Spirit Church, 50 Lovewell St., Gardner at 11:00am. Calling hours will be held from 9-10:30 am in the funeral home on Thursday Morning. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Golden Living Center Activities Fund, 1199 John Fitch Highway, Fitchburg, MA 01420.



OBITUARY

Elizabeth R. (Cuddy) Richards, 87, of Fitchburg, passed away Monday, April 25, 2016 in the Golden Living Center.

Betty was born in Fitchburg on August 15, 1928, a daughter of the late Frederick L. Cuddy and Mildred (Ladue) Cuddy. She was the wife of the late Donald F. Richards, Sr., who passed away on February 19, 2003; they were married for 56 years. Betty graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1946. She worked as a secretary at Foster Grant Co. and later for 14 years at the Co-op Supermarket. For eight years she also worked for the E&G Vending Co. in Fitchburg as well as the Clover Hill Bakery for many years. She loved to travel to England, Ireland, all throughout the U.S, and Canada. Betty loved to paint, which she took up when she was 72 years old. She had done many paintings for her family and friends. Betty also loved music and dancing. She belonged to AARP, The Golden Ages and Fitchburg Retired Women’s Club. Betty was also a member of the Heritage Village Association.

She leaves four beloved sons, Donald and his wife Becky of Westminster, Ronald and his wife Kathy of Westminster, Gary and his wife Heather of Westminster, Jeff and his wife Susan of Cape Cod; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. She also leaves a brother Frederick Cuddy of Lunenburg, and two sisters, Marilyn Penfield and husband James of Rochester, NH, and Patricia Cormier Sprague of Lunenburg, many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Betty was predeceased by her son Bruce Richards and her step father Leon Cormier.
