Eleanor L. (Riedel) Griehshammer passed away at the age of 92 years on January 31, 2021 following a recent diagnosis of COVID-19. She leaves two daughters, Susan Fasoli of Salem MA and Karen Williams of Winchendon MA, their husbands Lee Fasoli and Richard Williams, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Rudolf, son Gary, and siblings, Raymond and Norman Riedel, and Constance Spanier. Born in Fitchburg, daughter of Otto and Lena (Langer) Riedel, she graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1946. Eleanor worked for Fitchburg Mutual Life Insurance and as a medical secretary prior to raising her children. She later worked part time as a secretary to Dr. Stephen Thorne and at Rich’s Department Store for many years. Eleanor was a member of the Congregational Church of Christ in Leominster and enjoyed singing in the choir and playing piano for church services. She was a gentle, loving, and supportive mother, grandmother and aunt who enjoyed gardening, crafting with her daughter Karen, and RV road trips to Florida with her husband Rudy. She resided at Brightview Independent Living in Danvers MA for the past 5 years, staying connected with dear old friends and enjoying senior activities and rides along the beautiful North Shore coast with family.
