A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 2 at 11:00am at St. Bernard’s Parish at St. Camillus Church, 333 Mechanic St., Fitchburg. Burial will follow at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen St. Winchendon, MA

Calling hours are from 9:00- 10:30 on Monday morning in Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg.

Fitchburg- Edward Eino Pietila passed away on Monday, June 25 at the Keystone Center in Leominster. Edward was born on September 20, 1937 in Fitchburg, a son of the late Eino and Evelyn (Thibodeau) Pietila. He was a husband to the love of his life “Pat” for fifty two years. He was the best “Popper” to Karen and Kim. Ed was the best story teller, dollar giver for trivia questions, and tickler Papa to Joe, Kyra, and Jenna. He also leaves his brother, Francis Pietila and wife Carolyn of Fitchburg and sister, Kathleen Curry and husband James of Englewood, FL. He also leaves cousins, nieces, nephews who will miss him dearly. He was predeceased by brothers, Richard and Bruce Pietila. Edward graduated from Fitchburg High School and served in the United States Air Force as an airman second class. He worked at James River Paper Mill for many years and the City of Fitchburg until his retirement. “Ed” was a lifetime member of the St. Joseph’s Club. He was also a member of the Friends of the Library, the Friends of Coggshall and the Retired Municipal Employees Association of Fitchburg. Ed was a sports enthusiast, history buff, music lover, and avid reader. He spent winters in Florida with his wife and many summers at the beach with his family. All of those times will be treasured and remembered with love. We love you Dad, Papa, Eddie. Life will not be the same but we know you are at peace. Till we meet again. Special thanks go out to the staff at the Keystone Rehab Center. Also to all the family and friends that have been there for our family through those very difficult months.
