The funeral will be held from Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg with a Mass on Monday, June 19 in Saint Leo’s Church 108 Main Street, Leominster at 10:30am. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery, 486 Clarendon St., Fitchburg. Calling hours will be held Sunday, June 18, from 4-6pm in the funeral home.In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions be made to the Chiropractic Foundation of Massachusetts Inc. 76 Woodland Street Methuen, MA 01844 or to Saint Leo’s Church, 108 Main Street, Leominster, MA 01453.



OBITUARY

Leominster –  Dr. Charles B. Johns, 82, of Leominster, passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2017 in Leominster Hospital.

Charles was born in Fitchburg on December 28, 1934, the son of the late Charles M. and Marie (Thibodeau) Johns. He graduated from Leominster High School with the Class of 1953. He then went on to graduate from Logan College of Chiropractic in 1956. His post-graduate work included Diagnostic Roentgenology, Physiological Therapeutics, and Chiropractic Orthopedics. Charles was accepted in the American College of Chiropractic Orthopedist, and accepted as a Fellow of the Academy of Chiropractic Orthopedist.

He was a member of the Mass. Chiropractic Association and a pioneer involved in acquiring licensure of Chiropractic in Massachusetts. Charles held License #23 in the state of MA, and was also licensed in New Hampshire and held a Basic Science Certificate in Arkansas.

As a member of the MA Chiropractic Association, Charles served as Chairman of the Board for 6 years. He was a member of the MA Board of Chiropractic Registration and was its Chairman for 1 year. Charles was also a member and past President of both the Worcester County Chiropractic Society and the Leominster Rotary Club, and a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a member of the Leominster Civil Defense Scuba Divers Team and a member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree.

Charles was an accomplished musician, he played trumpet in many local groups including the Mark Four, the Metronomes, and Group 70. Charles started playing with the Leominster Colonial Band at the age of 12 and enjoyed playing with the group until his early 70’s.

In his early years, Charles was an avid fisherman and hunter.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joan (LeBlanc) Johns of Leominster; his sister, Rose Marie Caiazzi, wife of the late Antonio Caiazzi of Leominster as well as several cousins.
