Doris J. (Gamache) Caron, 87, of Fitchburg, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2015 at UMass Medical Center in Worcester surrounded by her loving family. She touched countless lives with her warm heart and deep devotion to family, friends, and community.

Doris was born on July 18, 1928, a daughter of the late John B. and Aurore (Tremblay) Gamache. She graduated from St. Anne’s Academy in Marlboro where she met life-long friends, and worked as a bookkeeper as young woman at Aubuchon Hardware where she met her husband, Gerard J. Caron. Doris belonged to Sacred Heart Church most of her life, sang in the choir, traveled throughout Europe, Canada, Florida, Hawaii, and New England campgrounds, hosted many parties, celebrated many milestones including her 65th wedding anniversary, and dedicated herself fully to her husband, family, and meticulous home that welcomed everyone.

Doris reveled in the presence and activity of her family and close friends.  She was committed to keeping in touch with a huge network of loved ones, never missing a birthday, anniversary, or wonderful story; she even used Facebook and LinkedIn to the fullest extent in her eighties!  Doris celebrated the joys and achievements of others always, and her unwavering support will be missed by so many.

She leaves her husband Gerard; children Gerald Caron and Karen of Westminster, Louise Paquette and Richard of Lunenburg, Peter Caron and Patricia of Westminster, and Diane Fluet and Ken of Lunenburg; grandchildren Kim Tramontozzi and Michael, Julie Paquette and Derek, Valerie Paquette and Eric, Lauren Paquette and Chris, Jennifer Bessette and Tyler, Jessica Champagne and Matt, Dan Caron and Jennifer, David Caron, Jillian Fluet, and Alex Fluet; great grandchildren Brooke, Cora, Lillian, Jaymeson, Jacoby, August, Mason, and Isaac; brother George Gamache and Mary Lee of Scarborough, ME, and many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and dear friends. Doris was predeceased by her grandson Jacob Fluet, and by her siblings, John, Robert, Victor, and Alice Gamache, and Ernestine Tellier.

Her family is grateful for the exceptional care and kindness of the doctors and staff at UMASS Medical Center; and also to the many individuals who provide elder services in the community.
