Donna Lynn Backholm, a thoughtful, compassionate, supportive, and loving woman, passed away on June 18, 2023, at the age of 68 in the comfort of her home. Born on February 20, 1955, to Charles and Priscilla Chryst, Donna was a lifelong resident of Ashby, Massachusetts. Donna was an amazing wife, loving mother and nana, as well as, a talented seamstress. She dedicated her life to her family and retired from a career in the clothing industry and was well-known for her incredible skills, crafts and attention to detail.
Donna married the love of her life, Steven Backholm, on November 4, 1972. Together, they built a beautiful family and cherished their daughters Melissa and Holly, son Steven II, four grandchildren; Ashlee Warren being the eldest, Damon Backholm, Abbie Warren and Freya Kaul being her youngest, and one Step granddaughter Ella Comeau. Donna's family was her pride and joy, and she poured her heart into nurturing and supporting them. She was selfless, loving, caring, generous and supported all of her family and friends, opening her heart and home to anyone that needed comfort. She had a love for animals and throughout the years had many special fur babies that she loved dearly. As Maya Angelou once said, "Family isn't always blood, it's the people in your life who want you in theirs; the ones who accept you for who you are. The ones who would do anything to see you smile and who love you no matter what." This sentiment was truly embodied by Donna in every aspect of her life.
Donna is survived by her loving husband, Steven; her children, Melissa Backholm Kaul and son in law Amit Kaul, Holly Warren and son in law Ken Warren, and Steven II and daughter in law Stephanie Comeau; her sisters, Deborah Brogna and Cynthia Vallencourt; her four adored grandchildren, one step granddaughter and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Priscilla Chryst, and her sister, Barbara Chryst. Donna's memory will live on through the countless lives she touched with her kindness, warmth, and generosity of spirit. In the words of Helen Keller, "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart." Donna's unwavering love and devotion to her family and friends will forever be felt in our hearts. In the words of Donna to her family she would say "Love you Always and Forever."
