Donald will be privately laid to rest at the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon, MA.

OBITUARY
Donald W. Bent, 84, of Fitchburg, passed away on Friday, August 24, 2018 in Health Alliance Hospital, Leominster, MA.
Donald was born in Fitchburg on August 1, 1934, a son of the late Walter Sr. and Helen (Tait) Bent. He attended Fitchburg schools and graduated from Fitchburg State College. Donald also received a Doctorate of Christian Counseling from Carolina University of Theology.
He proudly served his country in the US Navy aboard the USS Forrestal, during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge, Donald worked at Crocker Burbank, a paper mill in West Fitchburg. He found his true passion in his second career at The Arc Opportunity, Fitchburg, facilitating workplace placement of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. He also was an adaptive lessons ski instructor at Wachusett Mountain in Princeton, MA ensuring that everyone had a chance to experience the natural beauty of the mountain that he loved so much.
Donald was a longtime member of Beth Eden Baptist Church, where he enjoyed working in the youth ministry. He remained active throughout his life participating in cycling, mountain hikes, alpine and cross country skiing, and rock climbing at Leominster State Park. He especially enjoyed RV camping with his wife, Nancy, where they made many, lasting friendships. Donald will be greatly missed by his family and friends and will always be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, which brought a smile to all.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Nancy J. (Williams) Bent; sister Florence Roberts; sister in law Jane Williams, and many nieces and nephews. Donald was predeceased by his sister, Louise Johnson and his brother, Walter Bent Jr.
