LEOMINSTER – Donald Richard “Sike” Tocci, 84, passed away peacefully after a brave long battle, on August 18, 2018, surrounded by his family.
The funeral will be held Thursday from Brandon Funeral Home, Fitchburg with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Anna’s Church, 194 Lancaster St, Leominster. Burial is in St. Leo’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Health Alliance Clinton Hospital, Development Office, c/o Palliative Care Team, 60 Hospital Rd., Leominster, MA 01453.
LEOMINSTER – Donald Richard “Sike” Tocci, 84, passed away peacefully after a brave long battle, on August 18, 2018, surrounded by his family.
He is survived by two daughters, Shelly Civita and her husband, Victor, and Dawn Cassara and her husband, Mark. Donald is also survived by his 3 loving grandchildren, Markie, Emily Bug and Thomas, great granddaughter, Sophia, sister, Carolyn Richards, two brothers, Daniel and Larry Tocci and nieces, Cheryl Jordan, Michael Richards and Kelly Visconti.
Donald served in the Army and also played football during his service in Germany. Throughout his career, Donald worked in the aerodynamics industry for Teledyne Ryan and General Dynamics. He semi-retired and worked at Leominster High School which was a favorite job as he loved working with kids and helping them develop. His greatest passion, other than spending time with family and friends, was coaching. He coached Pop Warner football for 50 years, coaching generations of athletes throughout his coaching career. He also coached high school football and basketball for more than a decade and his daughters’ Catholic Basketball teams. He was an avid golfer, athlete and sports enthusiast. He was proudly inducted into the Leominster High School Football Hall of Fame on November 17, 2012. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Monoosnock Country Club. He was a devout Catholic and never missed Sunday Mass and his visit with Auntie Eda Tocci.
Sike, as he was fondly known, touched the lives of so many, he was truly beloved and will be forever missed.
