Debra A. Landry, a warm heart that brightened the lives of many, was born on April 12, 1953, in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. Known for her vivacity, compassion, and unyielding love for her family, Debra personified the words of Maya Angelou,
"People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." As a dedicated school van driver, her days were filled with the joyous chatter of children, whose lives she touched profoundly with her kindness and care. Her love for her community was evident in her everyday actions, reflecting her belief in the importance of service.
Debra's life was a testament to the power of love. She shared a beautiful, enduring love story with her husband, Lawrence Landry. Together, they built a loving home in Gardner, Massachusetts, where they raised their son, Larry Landry. Debra and Lawrence shared their home with their son Larry and his husband Joshua as the four were always doing everything together. Debra was a doting grandmother to Kristi and Bradley Landry, and a proud great-grandmother to Asher Morneault. Her love for her family was boundless, and her home was a sanctuary of warmth and laughter. Debra's siblings Bernard LaRoche Jr. (Girlfriend Sherry) of Gardner, Donna Calvo (husband Jimmy) of New Britain CT, and Holly Griffin (husband Rick) of Littleton will remember her as a loving sister who was always there for them. Debra was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard LaRoche Sr. and Elizabeth (Jenkins) LaRoche, and her sisters, Pamela Spinelli and Bernice Buteau. Debra was also a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews, and beloved in-law.
Debra was always happiest when surround by her family. Debra's son, grandchildren, and great-grandson were her pride and joy! Things Debra enjoyed were trips to the beach especially with family, trips to the casino with her beloved husband and in-laws Warren and Barbara Landry, shopping and could always find the bargains, family vacations, and time spent with those she loved. Debra and Lawrence celebrated 50 years of marriage in April of this year. Debra was beyond excited for what she called "a dream come true" when her son Larry and husband Joshua took Lawrence and Debra on their first ever cruise to the Caribbean for their 50th wedding anniversary. Debra would tell everyone she met about her planned cruise as she was filled with excitement. The entire 10 days of the cruise Debra was overflowing with excitement and upon returning home couldn't wait to plan her next cruise. Debra enjoyed her nightly face-time "cooking shows" with her beloved granddaughter Kristi where she would watch Kristi make Asher's dinner while talking to Asher (who she always called Boo-boo) and watched him jump, laugh and play. Debra always enjoyed attending all of her beloved grandson Bradley's sporting events, random trips to breakfast, and constant text messages to each other.
The family invites all who knew and loved Debra to a visitation on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at 6:00pm at the Brandon Funeral Home, located at 305 Wanoosnoc Road, Fitchburg, Massachusetts, 01420. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at the same location at 8:00pm. As we gather to celebrate Debra's life, we are reminded of the words of Helen Keller, "What we have once enjoyed deeply we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us." Debra's love and spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.
