Debra K Moreau (Piper), 70, of Fitchburg, passed away peacefully on March 7th, 2022. She was the daughter of the late James Piper and the late Rosa (Sullivan) Piper. She is survived by her loving partner Michael Oakes; her siblings, James Piper and Karin Dufresne; her six children, Michael St. Peter and wife Kimberly, Todd St. Peter and wife Beti, Angel St. Peter, Jennifer St. Peter and husband David, Nicholas Moreau and wife Shanna, and Brittany Moreau; 18 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Debra grew up in Leominster, MA, and was educated at Leominster High School. She undertook a career in food services and worked tirelessly to provide for her family during their growing years. In more recent times, she could most often be found at the center of a room ringed by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her baking was a favorite at special occasions, and she was always generous and thoughtful when others were brought into her family.
Born at Fort Monroe, VA, on August 12th, 1951, Debra was part of a family with deep ties to the Armed Forces, and she took pride in their dedication to the defense of our Nation. Both of Debra’s parents, James and Rosa, served in the United States Army during World War II, with her father continuing his service throughout the Korean War and Vietnam. Her partner Michael Oakes served in the United States Army Special Forces during the Vietnam War. Son Michael St. Peter served a full career in the United States Army and participated in Operations Desert Storm and Enduring Freedom. Son Todd St. Peter served in the United States Marine Corps and participated in Operation Desert Storm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital or the American Heart Association.
