His funeral will be held in Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg on Wednesday, January 2, at 11:00am. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery. A calling hour will precede the service in the funeral home from 10-11am.
OBITUARY
Fitchburg – David J. Babineau passed away peacefully at home on December 26, 2018 at the age of 86.
David was born on December 11, 1932 to Marcel and Mary Elizabeth (Connors) Babineau in New Castle, NB, Canada; he was one of 11 children.
After relocating to Lunenburg, and later to Fitchburg, David worked at several companies before enlisting in the US Army in 1951. He served in the 25th Infantry Division Signal Corp during the Korean Conflict as a Corporal. After his honorable discharge in 1954, David returned to Fitchburg where he met and married Anita Irene Testa in August, 1956. David was the father to five children, while working at various Paper Mills in the area before retiring in the 1980’s. He loved listening to Country Music and watching the Red Sox and Patriots games. A member of the American Legion Post 429 for almost 50 years, David always enjoyed a few beers and a few laughs with his fellow veterans.
David is survived by his daughters, Gail and her husband Francis “Buddy” Bedard, Carol Blanchard, Paula and her husband Alan Veilleux; his sons, David Babineau and his wife Karen, and Alan Babineau; his sisters, Irene Arsenault, Doris “Dot” Putnam, Josephine “Josie” Smith, Alice “Ally” Cormier, Linda “Lindy” Goguen, Lana “Lanny” Leger, Barbara Cordio, and JoAnn Spare. David also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Marcel and Mary Babineau; a brother Ernest “Ernie” Babineau; sisters, Alma Wolski and Betty Ann Babineau, and his wife of 57 years, Anita (Testa) Babineau.
