David J. DiGeronimo

David J. DiGeronimo, 70, of Leominster, MA and Naples, FL, passed away on April 14, 2023, after a battle with lung cancer. Born on March 19, 1953, he was the second of six children born to the late Arthur and Gloria (DiNardo) DiGeronimo.  David graduated in 1971 from Leominster High School, where he served as a class officer and co-captain of the basketball team.  He then went on to earn his B.S. in accounting from Bryant University in 1975.    He also coached the Whittons Little League team from the Leominster American Little League for seventeen years, where his teams won numerous city and regional championships.  He also coached the 1984 team to Leominster’s only State Championship. David spent his career working for the family-owned and operated Victory Supermarkets, a twenty-store supermarket chain,  as Senior Vice President in charge of grocery department purchasing. 

He enjoyed playing bocce, golf, and numerous card games.  He would never refuse a five-dollar game of gin rummy. Dave Di was also known to put in an occasional wager or two.  When asked what his favorite team was, he would respond that it was the team that had covered the spread in their last game.  He loved blues and rock and roll music, his two favorite bands being The Beatles and The Marshall Tucker Band. He loved spending his summers at Seabrook Beach in New Hampshire and winters at Vanderbilt Beach in Naples, Florida.

David leaves his wife of forty-two years, Laurine (Maillet) DiGeronimo, and also three children: Tasha DiGeronimo, Shaun DiGeronimo and his wife Andrea, and Gina Moran and her husband Andrew. He also leaves three grandchildren: Lex Tarbell, Vinny DiGeronimo, and Cami DiGeronimo.  David also leaves three brothers: Arthur (Jay) DiGeronimo and his wife Gretchen;  Michael DiGeronimo and his wife Kim; Steven DiGeronimo, and two sisters, Jayne Consolo and Lisa Cuddahy and her husband Tim.  He also leaves his mother-in-law Lucille Maillet; brother and sister-in-laws, Roger Maillet and his wife Deb, Dee Brooks and her husband Gary, Terry Fournier and her husband Steve, Gerry Maillet and his wife Colleen, Tina Fournier and her husband Mark; and several nephews and nieces. 

He was predeceased by his father in-law, Oscar Maillet.

At David’s request, there will be no calling hours.  A funeral Mass will be held Thursday, April 20, 2023 at 11 am at St. Anna’s Church 199 Lancaster St., Leominster.  All attending are asked to go directly to the church.  Burial will follow in St. Leo’s Cemetery, Leominster. 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made in David’s memory to the Leominster Little League, P.O. Box 1487, Leominster, MA 01453 (Leominster Little League is a 501C non-profit organization) or to St. Anna's Church, 199 Lancaster St., Leominster, MA 01453.
